48"H x 24"W Media: oil paint and clay

I wanted this painting to evoke the feelings that young girls experience when they are pressured to conform to society. The girl is bent over, her body awkwardly contorting to show the unnatural way she feels when forced to change. Her torso is carved away and replaced with clay as her hands, painted over the missing section of her body, sculpt the person she is trying to be. While her face and limbs are in a natural skin tone, her clothes are pure jet black, showing the girl's unsettled feelings with her body as she questions the person she wants to be.
